A Celtic Fusion Band from Newark, DE, Mythica is comprised of three women and two men who collectively utilize over a dozen instruments with triple vocal harmonies. Collectively they have opened for the Spin Doctors and Sister Hazel. With influences ranging from Beethoven to Led Zeppelin to the Cocteau Twins, it is easy to see why their debut CD "Dangerous Little Monster" has received regional and national critical acclaim, with "Elijah Elijah" (track 2) coming in as finalist for Song of the Year in the folk genre. Origivation Magazine says that their sound is "...Gustier than first it seems, less fragile than first it sounds." Couldn't have said it better myself.
"Dangerous Little Monster" is comprised of four tracks, opening with a song called "Don't Be", which makes a powerful entrance into the record. This is one of those songs that one is able to connect with in their perfect time and can mean what one needs it to mean for that exact moment. There is a welling of emotions that explodes into the chorus. Remember what I said about triple vocal harmonies? Um, yeah! "Elijah Elijah" is heartfelt and a passionate song without losing any momentum. It starts leading you into the mists of their world, comparable to the Moody Blues in that way. "Dive". Perfect title for this song. It dives between Celtic Folk and a Fiona Apple-meets Loreena McKennett sound, steadily waxing and waning - like taking deep breaths of music.
The record is concluded by the song "Escape", dreamlike, weaving notes around its listener. No doubt, after only four songs I was left wanting more. This group would be a treasure to see live. Definitely check out their website to see band photos, read reviews, get a list of their upcoming shows and booking information. You can even join their email list and buy the record "Dangerous Little Monster". This is an impressive band with a huge heart. Bravo guys. Hard work never sounded so good.

Singer-songwriter, Gypsy creates a unique sound of folk, pop and rock stemming from her rich musical upbringing of Americana roots music. Gypsy’s songs channel her deep life experiences through poetic lyrics and lilting, beautiful vocals. Growing up in a musical family, Gypsy wrote her first song at the age of five after hearing many of Mom and Dad's living room "jam sessions" with the likes of Tag Lambert (lead guitarist for Bob Wills), and others. Gypsy was inspired to pursue the life of a musical artist after hearing her Mom’s recordings on the local country stations in Arizona. Also, Gypsy’s uncle Don Rollins wrote the smash hit, "The Race Is On" recorded by George Jones, Ricky Nelson and The Grateful Dead. Writing is in her blood and deep in her heart.
