Lisa & David of Aoede

A folk-laced pop-rock duo from San Francisco,  Aoede (pronounced [ay-ee-dee]) consists of Lisa Sniderman (vocals and acoustic guitar) and David Sands (acoustic & electric bass guitar).  Aoede have recorded their debut EP entitled "Ear Candy"... and that is just what it is.  They have been described as "a delicious blend of acoustic rock and catchy pop melodies you just can't stop humming", and utilizing guest players on electric guitar (Alex Karweit), drums (Jon Arkin) and keyboards (Christian Tribbarren) for this EP, there's more to it than that! 

"Rose Colored Glasses" is a perfect beginning to this record and reminds me of the Indigo Girls with rich overlapping vocal harmonies sung by Lisa and a beat that kept my toes tapping.  This is a song about getting honest and real with oneself and others, a story we can all relate to.  "Leap Of Faith" is an insightful song of encouragement.  With the third song, "Flickering", the expression "word-smith" came to mind.  Lisa writes metaphors that would make Bob Dylan proud!   The last song "So It Goes" is thick with emotion and the instrumentation is excellent and perfectly conveys the moodiness and desperation of the piece.  Lisa's phrasing is so unique and sends home her point!  I can't wait to hear the whole album due out in the Summer of 2007.

Aoede's sound has been compared to Aimee Mann, Shawn Colvin, Sarah McLachlan and Tori Amos with undertones of Nick Cave and Leonard Cohen.  This duo performs live regularly in San Francisco and have an upcoming performance at the WomenRock Showcase at the Bazaar Cafe.  You won't want to miss seeing them live!

Singer-songwriter, Gypsy creates a unique sound of folk, pop and rock stemming from her rich musical upbringing of Americana roots music.  Gypsy’s songs channel her deep life experiences through poetic lyrics and lilting, beautiful vocals. Growing up in a musical family, Gypsy wrote her first song at the age of five after hearing many of Mom and Dad's living room "jam sessions" with the likes of Tag Lambert (lead guitarist for Bob Wills), and others.  Gypsy was inspired to pursue the life of a musical artist after hearing her Mom’s recordings on the local country stations in Arizona.  Also, Gypsy’s uncle Don Rollins wrote the smash hit, "The Race Is On" recorded by George Jones, Ricky Nelson and The Grateful Dead. Writing is in her blood and deep in her heart.
