Devin Decadence

I must brag about a particular Goddess Queen among us.
Chef Devin Alexander has done it again. After writing, Fast Food Fix, and The Biggest Loser Cookbook (the #1 best selling cookbook in America last January!), and her fabulous television show, “Healthy Decadence” (Discovery Health), she has written another nurturing book; The Most Decadent Diet Ever!
Might you enjoy “chocolate chip pancakes” or “French toast with sautéed banana” for breakfast? How ‘bout a “BBQ bacon cheeseburger” or “fettu-skinny alfredo” for lunch? I am simply drooling over the picture of “roast beef with horseradish cream” and “parmesan-garlic mashed potato pancakes.”
Chef Devin combined her gift for cooking, sparkling personality, and concern for health into a fabulous book to offer delicious, low calorie recipes; most of which can be prepared in 30 minutes or less. The photography is enticing, and most recipes seem eminently manageable.
I am a stickler for natural foods, and if you prefer using regular yogurt in her “vanilla, chocolate and strawberry breakfast sundae,” calories are provided, to help keep track.
A healthy lifestyle is much better than “diets,” and her dishes are so exciting that they can simply be incorporated into your life. Low calorie status is often achieved with low fat cheeses, nonfat milk and spray oils, while innovative use of spices and herbs appear to create explosions of taste.
Devin blurs the line between meals and snacks, which is something I have long advocated. Enjoy “easy and energizing carrot cake” for a meal or a snack, since all calories count towards your caloric total anyway.
Mostly what I like about Chef Devin is Chef Devin, herself. This woman is charming, honest, ambitious, devoted, and eager to lift others as well as herself. It is with unbridled enthusiasm that I whole-heartedly recommend The Most Decadent Diet Ever!
