Who teaches us to love? I rarely watch nighttime TV. One day I was pooped after a long day, I turned on the boob tube and sadly discovered a string of shows about movie stars’ love lives and ways of the rich and famous on E. I never felt too sorry for them when they get divorced and get 5 million dollars during the separation. Then I turned the channels and I kept hoping for some enlightenment. I saw more sex and more broken hearts than I wanted to see and a few movies of unfaithful husbands and wives who kill for revenge. I occasionally catch Desperate Housewives and Grey’s Anatomy and these shows are still the hits to follow! These shows keep us riveted at the edge of our seat and they are all about love and relationships. Is this where we learn about love? Sadly, I say YES! Who or what else teaches us how to prepare for love? While most parents are working 2 jobs to pay to live, who has time for love talk? We are the real “Survivors” and most of this TV crap warps our minds about love. These are the shows that are carving the minds of the youth in our society and are paved the way for most of us in the past. The desire for love still remains in the souls of each of us: romance, connection, movies and commercials luring us to buy a perfume or drink a certain kind of vodka that makes us SEXY! We still ache for real love, to be understood, to feel passion, a heart connection, and some depth. Love has not died. My advice…Turn off the TV and see it all around you! Do the inner work and learn about love and yourself. It is the only way to reach the high that we all are searching for. Only You can create it. I have tried my best to help men understand women with my book Love Mechanics, only to discover that most of them are numb after being put through the ringer by women. Ladies, Get Real and put yourself in a man’s shoes. If you are going to quiz him on his net worth or ask him for a resume, you had better be ready to receive the same treatment. After 8 years experiencing Rapid Dating events with thousands of singles, I have observed it all! Some observations: 1. The timing must be PERFECT and your look must be together, conversation interesting, must feel like a ripping off your pants (well the men in Cosmo make me feel that way?) won’t you? 2. You need to know right gestures and certain words or statements might make me leery of you so beware of such phrases: a) I haven’t been in love for year. b) I’m not working a steady job, but am pursuing my own vision right now. c) I just was separated but I’m still living with my ex. Women expect men to know how they feel in an instant. Men are just not wired the way we are. Realize the timing, the amount of interrogation we fire at them - “Where are you in life now? What do you want in a woman? Most men go for looks first then, if they haven’t been castrated, after the first few minutes and feel safe he may move beyond his fantasy of a beautiful face, a nice chest or a tight rear view! We try to cut to the chase with a man…we need to hurry before our eggs are too old! We might lose time. Are we having fun yet? After years of watching this game seeing the pain of the single soul- hearing the great, the daring and the scary stories, I have paid my dues. Every morning I wake up to emails and calls from single souls hoping that my next event will be the last time they need to rapidly date. Can I single handedly save the hearts of these people? Will they ever see it comes from inside out? Do they understand that my life has been dedicated to helping both men and women see they need to do the inner work first to feel complete, to be happy and attract what they are asking for? This is my passion to work with clients in my coaching sessions or seminars to help get them in the “Drivers Seat of their love lives.” Do you need some fine-tuning? We all must transform the old pain and heal the past. Mix in positive thoughts that inspire people to never give up, take care of themselves, do some inner healing, take charge of their love lives and let go of expectations. Search for love within their own heart and have faith in themselves and become first what they want to attract. The struggle of life will eat us up if we don’t have an inner sense that we are OK right now. We can have love, we deserve it. People often ask me…Why do I do this job with connecting and inspiring people to believe in love? It’s my destiny I suppose. I did all the inner work (and still do practice daily) and now I am teaching all I have learned. One thing I do know is I finally have the kind of Love everyone is looking for and I’m counting my blessings. Nothing is more fulfilling to me than having clients that have worked with me call and say how their lives are changed forever and to hear they are now in a great relationship! It’s your turn!
